What this site is
DebtHaus.com publishes plain-language articles about debt — credit cards, student loans, settlement, collections, and what happens to debt in a divorce or after a death. It is owned and operated by Cloudalien Technologies LLC.
We are not a lender, a broker, a debt settlement company, or a credit repair organization. We do not arrange loans, we do not match you with lenders, and we do not take applications. If you have used this site before and remember it working differently — filling in a form and being called by lenders — that is why: it does not do that any more, and it will not do it again.
How this site makes money
Some links on this site earn us a commission. If you follow one and open an account, the company may pay Cloudalien Technologies LLC a fee. You never pay more because you came from here. That is how the site is funded, and it is the only way it is funded — nobody pays us to be written about, to be recommended, or to be placed above anyone else.
It does not decide what we write. We choose what to cover before any commercial relationship exists, we say when a product is a bad deal whether or not it pays us, and the order things appear in is not for sale. Plenty of the options we explain — paying a card down directly, a non-profit counsellor, doing nothing at all — pay us nothing, and we cover them just the same.
Every page shows our disclosure in the bar at the top of the page.
We do not sell you, either. We do not ask for your income, your balances or your account numbers, there is no application form anywhere on this site, and we never pass your information to a lender, a broker or a lead buyer. A commission is paid on what you choose to do after you leave — not on your details, which we never have.
This is not financial or legal advice
Everything here is general information, published for education. It is not advice about your situation, and it cannot be — we do not know your income, your balances, your rates, your state, or anything else that would matter.
Debt decisions are consequential and often irreversible. Settlement can damage your credit for years. Consolidating unsecured debt into a loan secured on your home can put your home at risk. Bankruptcy has effects that last the better part of a decade. Before acting on anything you read here, talk to a qualified professional — a non-profit credit counselor accredited by the NFCC, an attorney for anything involving a lawsuit or bankruptcy, or a tax professional where tax is involved.
Free, impartial help exists and is worth using before anything that costs money. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau publishes guidance at consumerfinance.gov, and the Federal Trade Commission covers debt relief scams at consumer.ftc.gov.
Accuracy and currency
Rules change, rates change, and an article accurate when written may be out of date by the time you read it. Dates are shown on every article for that reason. We correct what we get wrong: write to [email protected].
Free help first
Before anything that costs money, and before any link on this site: a non-profit credit counsellor accredited by the NFCC will review your whole situation, usually free, and has no loan to sell you. We would rather you did that and never clicked anything here.
Our paid partners
As of 13 October 2026, DebtHaus has no paid partners and no page carries a paid link. When that changes, each partner will be listed here with the date it was added and what kind of service it is, before any link to it goes live.
How we check a debt-relief company before linking to it
- It does not charge fees before it settles or changes a debt, the customer agrees to the result, and at least one payment has been made under it, as the FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule requires (16 CFR 310.4(a)(5)).
- Any savings account it uses for fees is held in the customer's name at an insured institution, and the customer can leave and get the money back within seven business days.
- It makes no guarantees, and any savings figure it advertises is backed up in writing.
- We search CFPB, FTC and state attorney general enforcement actions against it and keep a dated record.
- It holds any state licence it needs. We check licences by hand on NMLS Consumer Access; we do not copy or republish NMLS data.
A company that fails any of these is not linked, whatever it pays.
What we collect about you
Only one thing on this site asks for information: our free guides. To send one, we ask for your first name and email address, stored with our email service (Sendy, sending through Amazon SES). Nothing else: no phone number, no address, no balances, no income. You can unsubscribe from any email. Details are in the privacy policy.
